Turn on developer mode
On chatgpt.com, open Settings, then Apps, then Advanced settings, and switch on Developer mode. ChatGPT only shows the option to add your own app once this is on.

Create the Calfo app
Back in Settings, then Apps, choose Create. Name it Calfo and paste this address as the server URL.

Sign in with your Calfo account
When the Calfo approval page opens, sign in with the same account you use in the Calfo app, approve, then click Create.

Ask about your kitchen
Start a new chat, add Calfo from the tools menu, and try: “What's in my pantry that expires this week?”

Adding your own app is only on ChatGPT on the web, and only on Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu plans. On Pro, ChatGPT can look up your pantry, goals, recipes, and plan, but can't make changes. On Business, only workspace admins can add apps; on Enterprise and Edu, an admin can give you access. On another plan? Use Calfo for Claude, which works on every plan.

What is Calfo in ChatGPT?

It connects your Calfo account to ChatGPT through MCP, an open standard for giving AI assistants tools. Once it's connected, you can ask ChatGPT about your pantry, goals, recipes, and meal plan, and it can make changes for you.

Do I need the Calfo app?

You need a Calfo account, which you create in the free iPhone app. Your assistant works with the same pantry and meal plan you see there.

Can my assistant see anyone else's data?

No. It signs in as you, and Calfo only returns your own pantry, goals, and plans. If you share a household, it also sees the household's shared pantry, just like the app does.

Can it delete things by mistake?

It asks for a reason before removing food (used or tossed), it can't delete meals you've already cooked, and it can only delete recipes it saved for you. Everything else is a normal edit you can change back in the app.

Does it cost extra?

Connecting is free, and ChatGPT runs on your own ChatGPT plan. Writing new recipes follows your Calfo plan's daily limit: 2 a day on Free, 10 a day on Calfo Pro.
